Day 2

So, today is day 2 of Ediets, and I found the battery charger but the batteries weren't charged until lunch, so no breakfast pictures today. Today's food was:

Cereal with blueberries soymilk. One slice of sodium-free whole wheat bread with jam and peanut butter. Watermelon.

"Latin American rice and beans" (recipe courtesy of Ediets). Mixed greens with tomatoes and some of that fancy spray-on dressing (I love Newman's Own). Orange. See above picture. I added red chili flakes, cumin seeds and coriander to liven it up-- good choice.

Vegan boca burger, on a whole wheat english muffin, with VeganRella (which is sort of gross, btw) and dijon mustard. Tomatoes and fresh basil marinated in balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Silk soy yogurt.

And a snack, which was supposed to be some homemade trail mix but instead was a serving of some lingering sodium ridden snack food that we had hiding around.

Alright, so the question is: Did I stick to this meal plan?
Answer: Mostly, yes. However, I can't properly function on 1100 calories, and I definitely had some fresh warm bread at work. But not much! I'm also drinking my second glass of red wine as I write this. But I think it's fine.

So far my only issue is that I can't figure out why they've allotted me only 1100 calories. I run 5k at least 3x week in addition to biking 6 miles 5x a week and lifting weights. I think I need to make an executive decision to add 100-200 more calories per day.

So, that's today....

What did you put in as your activity level? You really should be having more than 1100 calories--I'd be surprised if 1100 were enough to get your metabolism revved up. I chose the highest level of activity available and get 1800-1900 calories per day.

I agree with emlit; I think ediets might be setting you up for failure. In other words, you will feel deprived, and the last thing you want is a deprivation diet. You should probably be getting at least 1600 calories, maybe more. You can go to certain websites (fit sugar is good) and find what your normal daily caloric intake should be, then figure what you need to lose some weight - I guess you subtract 3500 calories per week or 500 per day. By the way, your food looks awesome!! And eating a piece of bread at work is certainly fine, as is an extra glass of wine.

well i'm eating more anyways, but i agree. and i entered my fitness level as intermediate. That's why I'm confused about why my calorie intake is supposed to be low.

1100 calories? Yikes!! That would be tough to stick to. Is the e-diet give lots of vegan suggestions? Does it take that into account? Sorry for all the ?s, just curious :-)

Looks like you're eating healthily But make sure you eat enough. I'm on the thin side and could never function on 1100 calories.

The produce outlet I wrote about is called "Produce Junction." My husband stops at one on the main line near where he works but they're all over the 'burbs (but not Philly!). There's one in Glenside and Hatboro, too.

As for cheap city basil, I'd try the Italian market.

I agree with you and the other commenters: 1100 calories is definitely not enough. I would go for 1500-1700. But the meal looks absolutely fantastic!
